Safe travels through Indonesia is something that is on top of Indotracks’ priority list. Expect traveling through Indonesia to be very different from traveling through, for example, Europe. We realize that for western visitors it is difficult to anticipate and evaluate all the challenges and risks involved.
Of utmost importance during your travels through Indonesia is a reliable and capable local network on which you can fall back at any time. Indotracks works together with several local agents on the different islands. These local agents do not only manage your tour program, but they can also be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in case of an emergency. We have personally known these local agents for a long time, and in case of an emergency Indotracks will also always be involved in looking for a suitable solution.
Cars and mini-vans that Indotracks uses are well-maintained, regularly checked and have safety belts at least in the front seats (in accordance with local regulations). Our drivers do not rush and are used to traveling with foreign visitors. In case of a problem, you can always fall back on the respective local agent that manages your tour and monitors the drivers.
However, please be aware that the general quality of cars and roads in Indonesia is very different from the standard in, for example, Europe. Unexpected things can happen, unfortunately that is something that needs to be anticipated while travelling through this country: a flat tire, a broken air-conditioning, or a road washed away by a landslide. However, with patience and some flexibility, a solution can always be found. And once again: you can always fall back on our local agents.
Traffic rules and behavior in Indonesia generally seem to be quite different from, for example, in the Netherlands. In the beginning, this might be something that you need to get used to. But once again, you can always fall back on your driver. And in case of a problem, you can always contact our local agents that monitor the drivers (or directly contact Indotracks).
The Indonesian domestic aviation industry has a bad reputation internationally. The European Union keeps a list of airlines that are banned from operating within the borders of the European Union (see European Union). All Indonesian airlines are banned within the EU, EXCEPT FOR Garuda Indonesia and Indonesia Air Asia. Indotracks will always advise you to fly domestically with Garuda Indonesia. However, this might not always be possible and sometimes it is much more expensive than flying with other low-cost carriers. The final choice will then be yours.
