Public ferry boats shuttle between the islands of Indonesia. When your drivers travels with you from one island to another, public ferry tickets will always be included in the car rent. For any other arrangement, public ferry tickets can easily be bought locally. Tickets are not expensive.
Between Bali and Lombok (including the Gili islands) you can travel by private fast boats. A single trip takes about 1,5 to 2 hours, depending on weather conditions. Indotracks can pre-arrange your fast boat tickets.
Several types of private tourist boats sail between Bali/Lombok and Komodo/Flores, from luxurious cruise boats to very basic backpacker boats. This is a multiple-day trip. Indotracks can pre-arrange some of these boat trips.
State-owned Pelni exploits some large public passenger boats between the larger island of Indonesia. However, sailing times and routes are very unreliable and service and safety is minimal. Because of this, Indotracks does not recommend travel with Pelni boats.
