At one point during your travels through Indonesia, you will almost certainly make use of a car with driver. This can be for a day trip only, but more often it will be a driver who travels with you for several days. On all islands where Indotracks organizes tours, we have access to experienced drivers who are used to traveling with foreign visitors. The drivers know the regular routes, the attractions and activities along the way, some recommended restaurants and are also able to give you tips and generally help out in any way possible. In short, they will act as your local host. But please note: drivers are not official guides. Generally, a local guide is not really necessary during your travel days. However, a local guide can be arranged if you prefer so. At tourist sites, you can always hire local guides as well.
Some drivers might speak only a little English, others are more fluent, and others still might even know languages like Dutch. In general though, the drivers are used to communicating your itinerary with you. In some locations where English-speaking drivers are not available, we will include an English-speaking guide in your itinerary when necessary.
The type of car that we arrange for you depends on your individual program and the number of people you are travelling with. For multiple-day trips, we use spacious and stable cars or mini-vans, like Toyota Kijang or Innova (2 to 3 pax), Mitsubishi L300 or Kia Pregio/Travello (5 to 6 pax) or Isuzu Elf (8 to 9 pax). For larger groups we will use tour busses. For daytrips only, we might use smaller cars like Toyota Avanza (3 to 4 pax) or Suzuki APV (4 to 5 pax). All cars and minivans have air-conditioning and safety belts at least in the front seats.
The price for a car with driver depends on the number of days, the route and the location. Always included in the price are all charges related to the car, like parking fees, toll roads, the ferry cross-over from Java to Bali, expenses for food and accommodation for the driver and empty runs.
